COPE MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the Tallahassee COPE Coalition is to develop and implement a plan of action to decrease childhood obesity in Tallahassee, Florida.

 

 

Youth Health Leadership Council

The Inaugural Class of the Youth Health Leadership Council, featured with the Honorable Dr. Louis W. Sullivan, Former Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services, Dr. Larry Robinson, Interim President of Florida A & M University, YHL’s parents, COPE Leadership Team, and Community Rotation Partners.

Youth Health Leadership Council (YHL) is a signature project of the Tallahassee Coalition for Childhood Obesity Prevention Education (COPE), funded by Florida Blue Foundation. The YHL Council was formed in March 2013 to provide youth the opportunity to participate in interactive education sessions about improving health for themselves and others.

Dr. Charlie Mahan is Dean and Professor Emeritus, College of Public Health at the University of South Florida, Dr. Cynthia Harris, Director & Professor, Institute of Public Health, Florida A&M University, Sokoya Finch, Executive Director, Florida Family Network and  Dr. William M. Sappenfield, professor and chair of the Department of Community and Family Health and Director of the Lawton and Rhea Chiles Center for Healthy Mothers and Babies at the College of Public Health, University of South Florida.
