Colin A. Barton, CPM

Mr. Barton is a highly motivated Certified Public Manager who is personable and organized with a track record of developing meaningful business relationships with internal and external customers. He has managed multiple large projects successfully which required a high degree of diplomacy, time management and independent decision making.

 

Currently, Mr. Barton serves as the Contract Manager in the Information Technology &Telecommunications Bureau at the Department of Management Services, Division of State Purchasing. Prior to this position Mr. Barton worked with the Office of Supplier Diversity where he reviewed the documentation submitted from businesses who applied for certification as a minority business enterprise.

 

Mr. Barton has worked for the State of Florida over the last 20 years in several positions beginning with the Florida Department of Education where he served from 1991 to 2007. His initial appointment was with the Office of Student Financial Assistance where he conducted compliance reviews of financial and educational institutions that participated in the Guaranteed Student Loan Programs. After this appointment Mr. Barton went to work for the Commission for Independent Education where he reviewed the license applications for Private Postsecondary Schools wanting to do business in the State of Florida.

 

Prior to moving to Florida Mr. Barton worked with the Gary Job Corp Programs in Texas. In addition, he worked at the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation where he served in several positions after leaving the Gary Job Corp Program. Mr. Barton is an Honorable Discharged Veteran of the U.S. Army.
